How to download a georeferenced satellite image (GeoTIFF), free

VNTG exports any view as a GeoTIFF in EPSG:3857 with embedded geotags, or as a PNG with a world file and .prj — both open directly in QGIS, ArcGIS and other GIS software. Set a capture radius, pick a source, and download. No account, no watermark.

Step by step

  1. Choose the point and radius. Search a location, then set the capture radius in metres.
  2. Pick a source. Auto takes the sharpest licensed source; you can also select one explicitly.
  3. Download. "Download GeoTIFF" gives an EPSG:3857 file with embedded geotags. "Download PNG" adds a world file (.pgw) and .prj.
  4. Open in GIS. Drag the file into QGIS or ArcGIS — it will land in the right place with no manual georeferencing.
Licensing matters: national aerial surveys, Esri, Sentinel-2 and NASA sources are downloadable. Google and Yandex tiles are viewable in the browser but never proxied or downloaded by the hosted service, because their terms don't permit it.
